James M. Yarmon


James M. Yarmon is President of Yarmon Investments Inc., a real estate investment, development and management company. Mr. Yarmon has been involved in investment real estate for over 20 years. Since 1990, Mr. Yarmon has also been a general partner in the Polaris Fund , a venture capital fund with an emphasis on Alaskan investments.

Mr. Yarmon's real estate career began in 1970 with the United States Trust Company where he assisted high income clients with investments in real estate, cattle, oil and gas. Subsequently, Mr. Yarmon worked at Eastdil Reality Inc., a real estate investment banking company. Mr. Yarmon was responsible for debt and equity financing for major clients throughout the United States.

In 1975, Mr. Yarmon began Eljim Realty Ltd., a Toronto based investment and development company affiliated with a family owned firm, Tankoos Yarmon Ltd. The company was involved in the development of retail and office properities in the Province of Ontario and also participated in land assemblage and planning of commercial properties in Edmonton and Anchorage.

From 1975 to the present Mr. Yarmon has been active in real estate investments in Anchorage. He also developed First National Center, an office building in Fairbanks.

Mr. Yarmon was born in Washington DC, graduated from high school in Toronto, Canada, and has a BA from Dartmouth College, an MBA from Amos Tuck at Dartmouth and an LLD from Columbia University.

Mr. Yarmon has been active in community affairs in Anchorage, having served as President of the Downtown Anchorage Association, Chairman of the Anchorage Parking Authority, as an officer and on the Board of Anchorage Historic Properties and the Rabbit Creek Community Council, as well as a coach for various youth athletic teams. Mr. Yarmon is also on the Board of several Alaska based companies.
