The Limber-Moose is a distant relative of the Limber-Jack (or the Limber-Jill, Shuffling Sam, or Dancing Dan).
Its roots go back to the Appalachian Mountains. You can use it as an accompaniment to singing, storytelling, or as a percussion instrument when playing with friends.
You can even rap to it! It had a leading role in the musical, Yukon Riverdance (just kidding about that, but you're welcome to use the joke in your performance).
"That is so cool!"
Raymond McLain - Musician and Music Educator
"Great rhythm and lots of fun for people of all ages! It twirls its legs and is assured to make any audience smile!"
Tess Leblanc - Step-Dancer, Singer, Musician
"The Limber-Moose will be a fascinating addition to my elementary
classroom! It has inspired me to learn even more about the moose--a very
interesting animal! THANKS!"
Lisa - Elementary School Teacher, New York
Perfect for workshops!

To play it, insert the dowel handle into the hole in the side of the Limber-Moose. Sit on one end of the Bouncer Board with the other end pointing to your right or left. Stand the Limber-Moose on the board. Now, gently thump the board with the bottom of your closed fist in an even rhythm and watch the Limber-Moose dance! By varying the rhythm of your thumping, you can change the dance style of the Limber-Moose from traditional Irish Step-Dance to Disco. It can dance on top of the board, or the legs can straddle it and make the rhythm with the sides of its legs. Beth Melville, of Juneau, suggested it's fun to bounce it in a rolling manner to make it gallop. Use your imagination!
When your Limber-Moose has finished its dance, you can have him or her take a bow (thank you very much).
Limber-Moose Kits are available for $25.00 (postpaid in the U.S.). I accept Pay Pal, personal checks, and money orders. They come with everything you need except for a pair of needlenose pliers, and take no more than an hour to assemble usually! Completed moose are available for $40 (postpaid in the U.S.)
