Dues Information

Dues for the 2007-2008 school year are $919.00. Dues are deducted from an employee's salary in sixteen equal installments beginning with the second salary paycheck in October of each year. The authorization to payroll deduct your dues will remain in effect from year to year unless you ask otherwise.

Your $919.00 (for a full-time employee) is divided as follows:

$151.00 goes to the National Education Association

$215.00 goes to the Fairbanks Education Association

$538.00 goes to NEA-Alaska

$15.00 goes to NEA-Alaska PACE*

Your NEA dues are distributed to achieve identified objectives. Dues are collected to build broad-based support for a quality public education system, enhance affiliate and member capacity in generating community partnerships that promote excellence in schools, support individual and collective initiatives to create quality teaching and learning for all students, and to expand the rights and further the interests of educational employees while advocating human rights. NEA's strategy is to focus the energy and resources of its 2.8 million members toward the restoration of public confidence in public education. NEA-Alaska has over 11,000 memebers in Alaska.

* The NEA-Alaska PACE deduction is considered voluntary and members have the option to designate the voluntary contribution to the NEA-Alaska Member Defense Program, Eductional Excellence Training, Bargaining Assistance, or to have the dues refunded. Refunds must be requested in writing by the end of September.
