This photo was taken in mid August at the old Sportsman's Lodge parking lot. You're looking upriver towards Kenai Lake. If you put in at the lake the Sportsman's landing is a good place to pull out and rest if you're going all the way to Jim's Landing (last place to take out before the canyon). The wooden dock you see sitting on concrete slabs is no longer there. The whole Sportsman's landing area was recently rebuilt with new parking and boat launching facilities. The Russian river ferry crossing is just around the river bend so keep an eye out for the ferry as it crosses the river. You don't want to run into it with your boat or raft. It has happened!
