The Travel
Page
Welcome to one of my favourite FUN activities! I love to travel and
hopefully this and the attached pages and links will introduce you to my favourite places
to visit on the web and in real life!
I guess the first area will be where to get info on the net
travel-wise. But first, a word of !
Unless you are travel savvy and know how the airline pricing structures work (ha! like
anyone does!), you can...AND WILL...get ripped off very easily if you are not
careful! So, buyer beware!
- Travelocity, run via
American Airlines' Sabre Reservations system. You can access airline, hotel, car rental
information and more via this site. If you know what your looking for travel-wise,
this site can find out great information for you. The good old standby of EasySabre
has been discontinued due to it's small usage. Personally, I found it more useful,
but..alas..the powers that be didn't think so.
- You can also find many of your travel needs at Expedia, run by Microsoft. This is a really nice
sight, with lots of travel related search features, maps and articles. Very cool!
- Of course, many airlines offer there own services through their web
sites. Check out Landings:
Airlines and Commercial Aviation Index to find your particular airlines' web site.
Lots of airlines offer web only specials that are VERY good!!!
- If you are looking for International Flights, and Consolidator Fares
perk your interest, visit A-Travel.Com where you can
save up to 70% on your international flights. I can personally vouch for this site as
being OK! You need to watch some fares though, as they are sometimes only a few dollars
less than the standard fares you may get from an airline quote, AND you may not receive
your frequent flyer miles...so, again, be careful and ask questions!
- Another really cool travel site is TheTrip.com.
It features complete travel planning, reservations, newsletters and bulletin boards. Also,
a neat feature is the Flight Tracking system. Enter an airline and its flight number and
it will show you its current position and estimated arrival time...pretty slick.
I have noticed that it does have some problems with international flights,
but for domestic US ones its great!
- Need another site to look at? 1travel.com
has an excellent site to find cheap fares worldwide. I have begun to use this site since
it's flight selections list classes of service...very helpful if you know the fare classes
that your free tickets and upgrades are booked in on specific airlines.

I guess a travel section wouldn't be complete without some photos
and travelogue from some trips I've taken.
As you can probably tell from the images above, my current favourite
destination is Thailand. I have been there every winter for the past three years and
have enjoyed every trip immensely. From the bustling, hectic, polluted but always
fascinating capital of Bangkok, to the serene peacefulness of the beaches of Koh
Samui...Thailand has something to offer for everyone! Of course, one of my
obsessions with the country is their FOOD. Talk about TBO in every bite!
