Note from Mrs. Bill (Elizabeth) Inman who did research: sent Aug. '05
Diana,
Bet you thought I forgot about you....not so. Your additional information to Bill was great and really helped me find your family members in England. First the bad news....I can't find the James William Fawcett family ANYWHERE in the 1891 UK census. Having said that, and I'm not giving up, let me tell you what I have found. Keep in mind, as with US records, sometimes the ages seem a bit off.
The following is all in Yorkshire.
I think that Lillian Annie Fawcett was born 4th quarter of 1877 in the registration district of Skipton. After the British civil registration began in 1837 all the records are listed by quarters (Jan, Feb, March; April, May, June; July, Aug, Sept; Oct, Nov, Dec), registration district, then volume and page.
Following the information you gave me, plus the information from the various cenus' I think that Lillian's mother was Martha Jane Parkinson, born 1st quarter of 1852 and her father, James William Fawcett was born 2nd quarter of 1853
There was a marriage between Martha Jane Parkinson to James William Fawcett 4th quarter of 1872 in Bradford registration district.
I also found a death entry for Martha Jane Fawcett, age 47, 1st quarter of 1899 in Burnley registration district,. I haven't found a death entry for James Fawcett.
I'll put the various census records in the mail to you tomorrow. It looks as if James Fawcett lost his parents at an early age and it will be interesting to see if the 1851 cenus (when Ancestry pops it out) sheds any light on this. If his birthdate is 1853 it may be helpful to get his birth certificate to see who his parents are. Speaking of certificates, they can be ordered by the ONS, Office of National Statistics if you are interested.
Hope everything is ok with you. I know you've had better weather than we have had in the last few weeks. Hot and muggy. Yuck. Muct rather been in England!
Take care,
Liz
PS Looks like you now have an "Auntie" Blanchetta. See 1901 census when it arrives!
