Special Pieces

Library

This is a one of kind piece I made in 2005. The finished surface has a mountainous horizon look and the heat-treating was done to give the sky an Aurora Borealis touch. Some describe it as a sunrise or sunset stormy look. Either way it's the second best piece I've done so far. I have engraved it (very lightly so not to hamper the colors) with 31 Alaskan towns listed below. (I can't add anymore because of the finish). This piece stands 10" tall and 16" wide. It would require a flat surface at least 8" wide to allow safe viewing. I would recommend a display shelf about 3 foot wide to allow couple of small items (one on each side) and finished light Alaskan white birch wood looks good. The support leg is drilled with a small hole to run a line to the display surface to keep it secure if bumped or an earthquake occurs. Included wood crate packaging for shipping. Sold in 2007 Attu, Adak, Cold Bay, Bethel, Nome, Kotzebue, Barrow, Prudhoe Bay, Galena, Fairbanks, Anchorage, Valdez, McGrath, Kenai, Homer, Cordova, Dillingham, Naknek, St. Michael, McGrath, Wales, Point Hope, Bettles, Cordova, Glennallen, Yakatat, Ketchikan, Wrangel, Juneau, Skagway, Petersburg

This piece is polished to a chrome finish. I have inlayed the Big Dipper stars on the base and its diamond tip engraved with Anchorage, Barrow, Nome, Valdez, Fairbanks and Bethel. It stands 3" tall, 3 1/4" wide and 2 1/8" deep and would look very nice on a desktop facing your visitors. This was a nice gift for someone, it included a wood presentation box and sold for $225.
