Make your own itinerary for this Lodge based dog
sled
adventure. Basic trip is a two day one night package. This
adventure
includes round trip airfare from Fairbanks, one overnight at the
historic
Bettles Lodge, meals, dog sled training class and a 15 mile dog sled
trip
with your own team. Additional days lodging and mushing can be added as
you desire. This dog sled
adventure begins
with a flight from Fairbanks to Bettles. The one hour scenic flight
follows
the route of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. The flight travels north
crossing
the mighty Yukon River on the edge of the Yukon Flats National Wildlife
Refuge. Shortly past the Yukon, you will cross the Arctic Circle and
enter
the Alaskan Arctic. As you descend into Bettles, you will get your
first
view of the Brooks Range and Gates of the Arctic National Park. Upon
arrival
at Bettles, Bettles Lodge staff will meet the plane. Guests will be
checked
into their rooms at the Historic Bettles Lodge. You
will enjoy family style meals and amenities such as Jacuzzi, tavern,
gift
shop and local culture.
After lunch, you will meet your mushing hosts
and from them,
you will learn the art of dog mushing as you experience your first time
mushing the team.
Guests extending their stay will have the
opportunity
to mush between one and four hours a day as they desire.
Each night you will have the opportunity to see
the
magnificent Northern Lights.
