We offer backpacking adventures throughout the Brooks Range and Gates of the Arctic National Park. Hike some of the world's most spectacular areas such as the Noatak and the Arrigetch Peaks. Follow the footsteps of Robert Marshall as you hike the North Fork of the Koyukuk around Mt. Doonerak and Frigid Crags.

Many groups combine backpacking with river float adventures.   We would be happy to put together the wilderness adventure of a lifetime. The Brooks Range offers some of the most spectacular pristine wilderness left on earth. This is a true wilderness adventure where the only trails are the ones you make and seeing other people is extremely rare.

Wildlife viewing, spectacular scenery, fishing, and exceptional hiking opportunities abound. We have canoes, rafts, float gear and other camping equipment available for rent.  For information on backpacking in the most spectacular settings in Alaska; Listed below are some of the possible hiking options available.  Prices may vary depending on group size and total weight.

Hiking / Backpacking Adventures

The following are a few suggestions for possible backpacking trips in the central Brooks Range.  This is by no means a complete list of the options available.  Prices are approximations and will vary depending on group size, total weight, and destinations.  Please give us a call with your questions.  

 Alatna Headwaters   

The Alatna Headwaters is an excellent drop off point for backpacking.  Along a major caribou migration route, an excellent opportunity for wildlife viewing exists.  Trips from the headwaters into the Noatak, Killik, and Nigu drainage’s are possible.  

 

Circle Lake Arrigetch Hike

Circle Lake is the drop off point for hiking into the spectacular Arrigetch Peaks, the most incredible group of mountains in Alaska. Alternate pick up point is at Takahula Lake.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chimney Lake

Named by  Robert Marshall, this area near the North fork of the Koyukuk River offers some beautiful scenery.  Hiking to the actual Gates of the Arctic is possible.  Alternate pick up point Summit Lake. 

Note: Because of lake sizes, pick-ups must be with the Beaver.

 

 Tulilik Lake

Located at the confluence of the Killik River and Easter Creek, This lake offers an excellent area to view wildlife.  Alpine setting.  Alternate pick up points, several.

 

Pingo Lake

Located near the headwaters of the Noatak River, this area offers superb hiking and wildlife viewing.  Alternate pick up points are many.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Karupa Lake

This rarely visited lake on the northern boundary of the Gates of the Arctic National Park offers excellent hiking, wildlife viewing, fishing, and solitude. Alternate pick up points, several.

 

 

 

 

 

                                                   Oolah Lake

Located on the Northern Slopes of the Brooks Range in the Itkillik drainage, this area offers spectacular scenery.  Numerous alternate pick up points.  There is a cabin at the lake available for rent. Call for prices.

Folly Lake

This high elevation  Lake located in the central portion near the continental divide, this alpine lake offer spectacular scenery.  There are numerous alternate pick up points.

 Note: Because of lake size, drop-off  and pick-up  must be with the Beaver.
