The next meeting of Copper Basin Search and Rescue, which was
scheduled for Tuesday evening, May 11th, will be canceled, so that
CBSAR members can attend the ICS (Incident Command System) Course
being offered by the Division of Forestry.
    This is a 16-hour course, and will be held on the first two
Tuesdays and Thursdays in May--May 4th, 6th, 11th, and 13th--from
6:00 to 10:00 each evening at the CREMS office in Tazlina.
    If you are interested in taking this course, please pick up a
workbook from Rocky Ansell at the CREMS office, and complete it
before the first class.

Infant Learning Program
 I would like you to know about a state funded program that is available to the residence of the Basin. Copper River Infant Learning Program is a family centered program serving children birth to three years of age.
  We do developmental screening and assessments. have a lending library available which consists of toys, parenting information and children's books. We are home-based and serve families in their own homes or if the family perfers in our office.  Children are eligible if they are born with a condition such as down syndrome or cerebral palsy.  Children also are eligible if they show delays in any of the following areas: Speech, Movement, Social/Emotional, Learning, Vision, or Hearing.  There is also an at-risk eligibility catagory (teenage parent ect). There are Pre-School playgroups available in Chistochina, Chitina, Kenny Lake, and Glennallen. For more information call 822-5655 or e-mail us at crilp@alaska.net.

Recycling Our Area's Resources - ROAR
ROAR is a non-profit, volunteer organization providing a convenient location for recycling aluminum and paper.  The recycling van is open to accept recyclable materials one weekend a month (except December and February).  Organizations and "Can-do Kids' can earn money for aluminum cans; we currently pay $0.15/lb.  You can pledge cans to your favorite organization; ask the van volunteer to provide a list of participating community groups.
GET INVOLVED!!  Volunteers are neede to work at the recycling van or provide new ideas.  Semi=annual meetings are in April and October.  Dates of mmetings are announced on the radio and in the local paper. For more information or if you are interested in volunteering, please call 822-5582
