Communications Consultant: Alaska Rainforest Campaign, Washington, DC
Consulted on advocacy effort to include Alaska's Tongass National Forest in President Clinton's "Roadless Initiative." Researched, organized and produced packet of editorials from nationwide newspapers to be distributed to federal decision makers. Assisted in development of campaign media strategy. Conducted internet based market research to refine media strategy. Created organizational system for campaign related media archives. Coordinated advertising campaign in targeted Congressional districts.

Conservation Intern: Conservation Funding Program, National Wildlife Federation, Washington, DC
Advocated for passage of federal conservation funding bill "Conservation and Reinvestment Act." Wrote newsletter articles and email updates for listserve. Coordinated media campaign to place full page advertisements in major national newspapers. Coordinated media campaign to place letters to the editor in over 250 congressional districts. Assisted in logistical aspects of 1,000 person "Rally for Wildlife" on steps of U.S. Capitol. Served as volunteer coordinator for rally. Created and designed slogan and emblem for advocacy campaign. Studied local, regional, national and international environmental issues in southern Africa. Traveled to and studied: Lake Kariba, Matobo National Park, Hwange National Park, other local areas. Also traveled to and studied in South Africa: Kruger National Park, Sodwana Bay, and Tembe Elephant Park. Studied Zimbabwean political economy and history, urban agriculture and land redistribution. Culminating project: "Jewels in the Crown: A Comparative Analysis of Kruger National Park, South Africa, and Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe." Personal contribution in sections covering ecology, national parks law , and international issues.
