I am currently planning to attend graduate school starting in the Fall of 2001 to obtain a Master's degree in International Environmental Policy. There are a few schools that I am particularly interested in, including the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, and the School of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan. There may also be other interesting programs of which I am not yet aware. These schools each have interesting joint degree programs which would allow me to obtain two M.A.'s in three years. Beyond my M.A. I have considered pursuing a Ph.D. and have not ruled out law school. However, those possibilities are a bit far down the road to really know what might happen.

In the long, long, long run I would like to work for the United Nations, the World Wildlife Fund, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, or a similar internationally active environmental policy organization. Between now and then I can see myself working for local or national environmental non-governmental organizations, or possibly a branch of the Federal government such as the National Parks Service, the Fish and Wildlife Service or the Environmental Protection Agency. Environmental policy is my primary interest. In the past I have worked on clean water and watershed related issues, and I can imagine continuing in this realm. All international environmental issues appeal to my sense of duty however, from the depletion of biodiversity to global warming.
