A Brother

Someone to love, someone to fight.
Someone who sticks by you because it is right.
Take a big hug and add warm eyes,
Don't forget understanding, in that he is wise.
The heart of a teddy bear, the mind of a dog,
He can't help that he walks in a continuous fog.
Mix in a real smile, filled with his love.
Let his hand fit in yours, just like a glove.
Take all of these things and add a kind word,
Something he'll never admit, but you know that you heard.
When all's said and done, and the stars come on out,
Thank heaven he's your brother, even if he's a lout.
