Bill Peterson, CDP, CSP, CCP
Bill Peterson is a pretty average kind of guy. About 40 pounds overweight, and pushing middle age hard enough that denial is becoming difficult. Bill has a few garden-variety neuroses, that is, he's a workaholic, pretty good at rationalization, slightly compulsive about his interests and obsessive about new technology. He also enjoys a little fine wine now and then.Bill, a life-long Alaskan, became an avid bike rider three years ago, and participates annually in fund raising rides for the American Lung Association. Last year he purchased a "Vision" recumbent bike and has ridden it over 1,300 miles.
Bill studied electrical
engineering at Washington State University. He has been a computer professional for over
30 years; and has earned a Certificate of Data Processing, A Certificate of Computer
Programming, and is a Certified Systems Professional. He is currently employed as the
Network Manager for Carr-Gottstein Foods Co. (Carr-Gottstein is an Alaskan based grocery
company and is the largest private employer in the State of Alaska.)
Photography has been one of Bill's hobbies for over 35 years. He has especially enjoyed photo processing. He has had his own private darkroom since 1976, and now, with the advances in digital photography he uses an Olymplus digital camera, Adobe Photoshop, and an HP Photo Printer as his primary photographic tools.
The GTE Big Ride Across America is a chance for Bill to bring together many of his interests into a single event. During this ride which will raise funds for the American Lung Association, Bill will stay in contact with friends, family and employer via a solar powered laptop computer and a cell-phone. He will document the trip with his digital camera and e-mail the results back home.
