STUDENT INFORMATION PACKET: This packet explains the organizational format and expectations for students in all classes. It explains grading procedures, and it has a details outline showing notebook organization.
SPECIAL PROJECTS and POINTS IN THE BANK: Students are expected to complete projects on their own during time outside of class. Students are encouraged to start completing projects as soon as the term gets underway. If an excused absence occurs, and an assignment does not involve the text, a worksheet or test, special project points may be the only way to make up points missed during the absence. However, the time allowed for make-up work is limited, and if special project points are needed, it is convenient to have points already stored up in a student's SPECIAL PROJECTS POINTS BANK to use as points for the make-up work.
RESEARCH PAPER GUIDELINES: Check this site for helpful step by step hints for research papers in astronomy, geology, or any of your other classes.
Crow Pass Hike: mother nature provided us with spectacular weather over two weekends: Saturday September 9th and 16th, 2000. Because of the large turnout the field trip was split into two sessions. In all 57 people took part in the hikes to study the glacial features, the gold placer and hard rock mining, and just the sheer beauty of the natural environment.
ASTRONOMY TELESCOPE VIEWING SCHEDULE: Check here after 6PM to confirm evening telescope setup location and viewing times. Our first viewing session took place December 14th, 2000, when we finally had decent clear viewing conditions. We saw spectacular views of Saturn and Jupiter, even the cloud bands on the face of Jupiter. Orion's Nebula is now visible early in the evenings.
Astronomy Picture Of The Day: Bookmark this site for fabulous views of the universe and multitudes of other sites of astronomical interest.
Service High School Web Site: Check this location for web pages created by other teachers at Service High School for their students.
Schools Throughout Alaska: Here you can find out about classroom and teacher activities throughout Alaska's schools; hosted by the Anchorage Daily News.
