The Garden House is a brand-new chalet design home in a peaceful garden setting surrounded by birch trees less than three miles from Homer. As a whole-house, nightly vacation rental, it is a nice alternative to the traditional B&B.

Your hosts, Pat & David Matthews are longtime Alaska residents and gardeners. They fell in love with Homer on a visit in 1976 and later returned to raise their children here. The Matthews know Homer, from fishing and kayaking to art galleries and The Pratt Museum. They welcome the opportunity to visit with people from all over the world and share the adventures Kachemak Bay has to offer.

The two-story, two bedroom house has vaulted ceilings and tiled floors. There is a beautiful, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, and a barbecue grill on the deck to cook your catch of the day!

  • We offer our patrons the unique opportunity of picking vegetables
    for meals and fresh raspberries (in season) while staying with us.
  • Take a leisurely stroll through our well-tended flower and vegetable gardens.
  • Sit outside and enjoy the serenity of our park-like gardens and bask
    in the midnight sun unique to Alaskan summers.
  • Relax in our rustic wood-fired sauna after a successful day of fishing,
    hiking or touring the art galleries and shops in Homer.
  • The Garden House is a non-smoking environment.
