Welcome to My World

William J."BJ" Frederick Sr.

I moved to Alaska 20 years ago and fell in love with it here. I live outside the town of Soldotna, Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula. I work for Agrium Corp in their KNO group as a Loader operator. I served in the US Army Security Agency in the MOS of 05H30Y4. I was in the Security Agency from 1970 -1976, My duty stations were Ft. Devens, Torii Station, FS Augsburg, and Kelly AFB at Security Hill, with a few TDY's during this time to some exotic places.I finished my last two years of service as Chemical/biological/Nuclear Warfare Specialist at Ft Sam Houston, Texas. I have been a life member of AmVets, Post 4 Soldotna, Alaska for several years. I have served as Trustee and Chaplain for Post 4, plus Southern District Vice-Commander and Commander for the State of Alaska for two terms 1995 - 1997. I find myself very dedicated to the principles and ideas of AmVets. I worked for Unocal Kenai Nitrogen Division for 16 years up until they sold the complex to Agrium Corp. of Canada. I worked for Agrium up until their R.I.F.T. in June of 2003. So at 51 and 1/2 years of age, I decided to go south to Phoenix, Az and enroll in M.M.I. for Harley-Davidson Mechanics. I now have 7 months left of the 15 months of training required. Cant wait to get home.

My home post is in the process of building its new post home on four acres just outside of Soldotna, Alaska on K-Beach Rd. We have the trees down and are in the process of designing our new Post home. We have the driveway in and the dirt work done. We hope to get a lot of input as to what we need for this new building for it to be the best Post possible. The current Commander of Post 4 is Jim Walters. We would like to invite all veterans and their families to check out our post. If you don't have an AmVets post in your area, you are more than welcome to join our post. We are always looking for a few more good members. We also have a Post Auxiliary Unit and a Son's of AmVets Squadron at our Post. Phone# 907-262-3540. We would also be more than glad to help you obtain the information on how to start a post in your area!
