British Isles Tour 2001

Day Ten:  Friday, July 6, 2001

UPDATE:  Many, many thanks to Mike Tittle (Brianna's dad), whose brainchild it was to try one more alternative to overseas communication, and who has most generously loaned us a new laptop, complete with a new Internet/e-mail set-up; to Angela Liston (James Murphy's mom), who, at this moment, is in flight with said laptop, on her way to Scotland to meet up with the choir group; and to my overseas cousin and friend, Michael Stenhouse, for his suggestions about U.K. Internet services.  Many, many thanks to Roy Ireland for all his hard word so far!  Hopefully, the new laptop will help him in his efforts, and he will also be able to enjoy the tour!!! Keep your fingers crossed!

Here are some links to some of the things
the group did today:

7:00 a.m. to noon:  They had the morning at leisure, which they probably spent with their host families.

1:00 pm:  They left for Chirk Castle  in  northeast Wales.  They met June Hartshorn, and no doubt, toured the castle and grounds.

5:00 pm:  They traveled to Oswestry, an ancient market town in northern Shropshire, close to the English-Welsh border.  Oswestry was named for Oswald, King of Northumbria (later St. Oswald).

5:30 pm:  They had dinner at St. Oswald's Church.

7:30 pm: They gave a concert in aid of Children's Hospice.

9:00 pm:  They returned to their host families in Hartford.

Five-Day Weather Forecast
for Chester, England
(rain there, too!)
