The doctor decided to induce labor 3 1/2 weeks early because several key factors indicated that Carrie's preeclampsia was beginning to kick into higher gear. Preeclampsia is pregnancy-induced high blood pressure, where the kidneys and liver do not function well. It can be a significant danger to the mother.
Indeed, Carrie's recovery was marked by quite a few complications early on, but she is now healthy and taking Hannah on various outings. Both mama and baby seem to be healthier than they were. Mom's even dropped 30 pounds already.
Hannah is very healthy. She spends her time sleeping and, when not sleeping, squeaking.
Thanks to all who were praying!
