This year, the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend will be the largest ever received. For many clients, this is a great time to pay outstanding legal fees and avoid late charges.
Also, if you are a creditor who has obtained a judgment against another individual, you can garnish a Permanent Fund Dividend by filing certain paperwork and paying a small fee. This information is available at the law office.

IS IT TIME TO MODIFY OR CREATE YOUR WILL?
Events in life can trigger a need for you to create or modify your will, to insure that the proper individuals will receive what you desire when you die. These events might include:
marriage
divorce
birth of a child, grandchild, or an adoption
purchase of a new home or other major property item
college planning for your children
your retirement
the death of a family member
If your marital estate is worth less than $600,000.00, it may be easy to create a will with the assistance of your lawyer, who can answer your questions and tailor your will to your needs. For those with estates in excess of $600,000.00, certain inheritance tax issues may require the assistance of financial planners and/or a CPA or other tax advisor to insure that your loved ones, and not the IRS, receive your belongings.
AUTO ACCIDENTS: IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!
As the termination dust covers Alaska's mountains, driving conditions deteriorate. If you are in an auto accident, to protect yourself and insure that your legal rights will not be adversely affected, make sure you do the following:
wear your seat belt at all times. If you're in an accident:
Stop. A hit and run offense is a crime.
Call the police.
Exchange information with the other driver(s)-name, address, phone number, license plate, driver's license number, insurance information, etc.
Get the names, numbers and addresses of all witnesses.
Do not admit that you are at fault.
If possible, call your lawyer before you give any statements
to anyone.
Don't refuse to take a breath test if an officer requests it.
Failure to take the test is a crime.
Take pictures of the accident scene.
Don't move your car if possible until police tell you to.
If you might be injured, see a doctor right away.
