The UAA Faculty and Staff Association is an advocacy group operating outside the formal structure of the University and supported by membership dues. Its primary purpose is to lobby for the growth and development of UAA. The Association is not affiliated with any union and has existed since 1971, engaging in political activities for the benefit of the entire campus.
The ability of UAA to serve Alaskans is dramatically affected by the actions of Anchorage area legislators.
This website provides evaluations of individual Anchorage area legislators. Legislators given a four-star rating
have shown themselves to be active advocates for the campus. Ratings are assigned based on each legislator's active support for: (a) the University's budget request and (b) funding for facilities.
