Spaghetti Feeds

The goal of the spaghetti feeds is to provide carbo loading prior to the race.  Although spaghetti dinners have been the tradition, any pasta will do.  Feeds are generally held on the Friday night before the race unless there are scheduling conflicts.  The time is determined by the Host, generally around 6-9 pm, keeping in mind we want kids getting their rest for the next day’s race.  Attendance numbers range from 40-60 kids.

Host responsibilities

Provide a ˝ page flyer announcing your address (with directions), time, phone number and food assignments by class.  This should be sent to Phyllis Rogers, SAHSXC@hotmail.com for posting on the web page, and also submitted to the coaches for copying and distribution three days prior to the date.

Provide chaperones, usually around four adults.  Many parents welcome the chance to help out and meet more skiers.

Hosts provide the main course and students are asked by class to provide side dishes- salad, bread, desserts, etc.  Drinks can be assigned to a class, which then you have numerous containers to recycle, or the Host can use the large ski team water coolers for lemonade/water.

Sample spaghetti meal using Costco supplies

3 large (6 lb 10 oz) cans spaghetti sauce

1 (8 bundles) package spaghetti noodles

1 can parmesan cheese

1-2 packages frozen meatballs

Leave 1 small crock pot of meatless sauce for vegetarians

Partially cooking the noodles the day before works well, and is something others can help with.

If you’d like more suggestions, have any questions, or need some extra pots, contact Diane Ramey der@ak.net  345-0089.

All the paper products-- plates, utensils, napkins, cups and extra cheese or noodles are contained in a large plastic tote kept in the ski room or with the previous hosts.

We truly appreciate you opening your home to the ski team.  If you would like to be reimbursed for your expenses turn your receipts into Diane Ramey.
