Adoption Success Stories!

Julie
Meet Julie, part of the Palmer Vet Clinic family for over 14 years. In her employed days, Julie was the "clinic dog". As a blood donor for sick puppies and for dogs in emergency, she loved her work because it meant eating cookies all afternoon after a bloow draw! In addition to her job at the clinic, Julie brightened peoples' days as a therapy dog. She has enlightened seniors and children with her visits to care centers, schools and health fairs. These days Julie is retired, and at 16 years old (yes, 16 in the picture at left!) is still able to chase a tennis ball and go for short walks. Her tail is in constant "wag mode", and she is always happy to see visitors and receive some petting. Julie has never met a hand she didn't like. Julie is "the perfect dog", and her philosophy is simple... every day is her favorite day.

Zero
On a cold, windy winter day, a young man found a kitty near death in his yard and brought him to the clinic. The full-grown cat weighed only 4 pounds, and could not lift his head. He was hypothermic and his body temperature did not register on a thermometer (hence, his new name, Zero). At one point in his emergency treatment, he stopped breathing, but he suddenly gasped, regained consciousness and began his road to recovery. After a long night warming up on I.V. fluids and warm blankets, Zero was able to shakily lift his head and eat for the first time in what looked like could have been weeks. He lived at the clinic for a year before going home with one of the technicians, as a happy 12 lb. cat!

Sylva
The jet-set Sylva is one lucky dog. In December, 1998 an apartment manager cleaning a vacant apartment found two abandoned Australian Shepherd puppies, left on their own with no food or water. The 6-month old puppies were taken to Animal Control and put up for adoption. One puppy was adopted and came to the clinic for a health check-up. The clinic employees were so impressed that a technician adopted the second puppy and vowed to find her a home. Knowing this was a special puppy and only the best home would do, soon the puppy was living at the home of the technician's good friend. Sylva is another "perfect dog", and makes a friend of everyone she meets. She is rarely apart from her adopted "mother". She goes to work with her person, and loves to vacation. She has travelled as far as New York and the American Southwest, and recently spent two months camping in Mexico. Not a bad life for an abandoned puppy.

Ally & Keeper
A hunter returning home from Point McKenzie in October of 1998 spotted a milk crate on the side of the road. Thinking he could use the crate, he stopped to pick it up, not prepared for the surprise inside. There in the cold fall air, huddled together in weakness and hunger were 7 tiny kittens. He picked up the kittens and headed for home. His wife, one of the technicians at the clinic, helped him warm up the kittens and get some food into them. The kittens were only 2-3 weeks old, and had to be fed with a syringe and milk replacer every 3 hours. After gaining strength and living with the couple for a month, five kittens found new homes and two stayed with Bob and Trina. They are now Ally & Keeper, and very much part of the family.

Lolly
Lolly sure cleaned up nice! This is an "after" shot of the dog from the Adoptions page, brought to the clinic as a skinny, matted stray in need of immediate surgery. Lolly is now part of a family and has gained weight and been brushed out. She has the sweetest disposition and loves to be silly and make her new family laugh. Her nickname is "Jolly Lolly" and she is loved.
